International Commonweal Support Organization (ICSO) is a public welfare organization founded by Chinese students.
Our mission
Gather the strength of global Chinese students to promote the development of international public welfare undertakings.
Our story
ICSO was first registered in China in 2017 by three Chinese students studying in the UK. Its goal is to build a global public welfare platform for Chinese students. Until 2022, ICSO has independently set up three branches worldwide and operated more than 150 general welfare projects in 12 countries and 54 regions, with more than 5000 overseas student volunteers and a total fundraising amount of more than 2 million dollars.
Our work
Since its establishment, we have taken the lead in carrying out single public welfare projects in a single field of a country and later implemented different general welfare projects in many countries and regions. From nine phases of three projects in one year to 150 public welfare projects operating simultaneously, from ICSO’s independent struggle to today’s 170 global partners and more than 5000 volunteers. From focusing on their general welfare projects to establishing an independent public welfare information interaction platform to help various enterprises, students, NGOs, and governments connect and jointly promote global public welfare undertakings. We are always moving forward!
Leadership
Three international students originally founded ICSO: Gates Yao, who graduated from the University of California, Berkeley (Former Chairman of ICSO US, 2019 to 2024), Richard Xie, who graduated from Cambridge University (Former Chairman of ICSO UK, 2018 to 2023), and Carol Yi, who graduated from Sheffield University (Chairman of ICSO CN).

Subordinate Branch
ICSO has three independently registered affiliated organizations in the world. They are distributed in three countries and are independently responsible for public welfare projects in different fields.

It is mainly engaged in the public welfare field of education for poor students in mountainous areas.
United Kingdom Branch
It is mainly engaged in the public welfare field of social assistance.
United States Branch
It is mainly engaged in the public welfare field of social assistance.
